Information

What are the conditions for taking part in canyoning ?

Aquatic trail (canyoning without ropes): minimum age 8 (or 25 kg) and must be able to swim.

Canyoning: minimum age 12 and must be able to swim.

How high are the jumps ?

The height of the jumps varies between 1 and 10 metres depending on the canyon.

Are the jumps compulsory ?

The jumps are never compulsory. On an aquatic trail, you can easily avoid them. In a canyon with ropes, the solution is to abseil down using a rope with the help of your instructor, of course.

What equipment do I need for canyoning without ropes ?

What you need to bring: swimming costume and trainers with a good sole.

What we provide: neoprene wetsuit, life jacket, helmet and harness if necessary.

Please note: For the Tapoul canyon, you will need to pay an additional €4.50 (by cash or credit card) for the village shuttle bus.

Are there any contraindications to canyoning ?

Yes, such as water phobia, inability to swim or Ménière’s vertigo.

Is transport included ?

Transport is NOT included in the activities and is therefore at your own expense.

If you do not have your own transport, please contact us so that we can organise it according to our availability.

The cost of transport with Roc et Canyon (where possible) is a supplement of 9 euros per person.

How long does it last ?

The activity lasts half a day, meaning 3 hours of canyoning. But bear in mind, the canyons are often between 50 minutes and 1h30 away.

This journey time must be added to the activity time. You should therefore count 5 hours in total.

MILLAU

Canyoning

Canyoning is practised around Millau, in the Cévennes, Aveyron, Gard and Lozère.

Canyoning is a thrilling aquatic activity in which you make your way through narrow gorges and jump off cliffs of varying heights, depending on the level of difficulty of the canyon. Depending on the season, currents can be more or less strong. Our region offers the chance to practise this activity in a number of magnificent locations, with different levels of canyon, allowing even the youngest to try it for the first time.

Trust your guide to help you make the most of the moment, diving into the huge pools, sliding down the great natural slides, abseiling down the most vertiginous waterfalls.

Millau Canyoning : 2 types of outing

Aquatic trail, or canyoning without ropes, is the most accessible type of canyoning for everyone, especially children aged 8 and over who can swim. Start with a twenty-minute approach walk before reaching the first pools. Swim and let yourself be carried by the current. To make your activity even more enjoyable, the guide will suggest jumps of varying heights and different natural waterslides. And seeing as the activity is open to all, jumps are not compulsory.

Canyoning is a slightly more demanding activity. To experience canyoning, you need to be at least 12 years old and know how to swim. You’ll also need to do an approach walk (around 20 minutes). Then it’s off down the canyon for 2 hours, swimming and jumping off rocks up to 10 metres high. The jumps are not compulsory, as you can abseil down instead.

The activities last half a day, i.e. around 3 hours (approach walk + descent into the canyon).

The programme includes jumps, natural slides, abseiling, swimming and waterfalls.

All the canyons are about 1 hour’s drive from Millau:

Tayrac (canyon without ropes): 45 minutes from Millau

Haute Dourbie (canyon without ropes): 1 hour from Millau

Bramabiau (canyoning): 1h from Millau

Tapoul (canyoning): 1h20 from Millau
